We offer consulting, training and on-going support. No in-house mentoring and/or coaching scheme will be effective unless it is explicitly and closely linked to the organisation’s strategy and business objectives.
Operationalising such schemes is challenging and involves a whole range of activities including building the business case (as above), reviewing organisational readiness, training the in-house scheme manager, preparing a communication and training plan, training and awareness building of all concerned, implementing and supporting the scheme, reviewing and evaluating the scheme. Clutterbuck Associates will partner with the company to perform all of these activities in such a way that the skills are transferred in-house for maximum sustainability. This can extend to regular, on-going support to the coordinator, management briefings and reviews. We do not offer standardised “plug-in” schemes and we do not run stand-alone training courses because we believe that such schemes and courses are unlikely to meet the organisation’s objectives and are unlikely to remain alive and sustainable.
In-house mentoring and/or coaching schemes have the potential to contribute towards significant cultural change and organisational transformation. In our current South African context this can be the difference between token compliance with our legislation, Social Labour Plans and industry Charters and real transformation. Many SETA’s require mentoring as a component of an approved learnership or intern programme.
Mentoring schemes are fast becoming key features of sustainable entrepreneurial and community development schemes.
Our schemes
Our training programmes are supported by continuous good practice and fundamental research and are accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council under their Quality Award system at Foundation Level 4. This means that our schemes:
- Are linked firmly to your own business strategy
- Offer significant development opportunities for the managers / more experienced people you already have in your organisation your organisation
- Emphasise the training of both mentors and mentees or both coaches and coachees thereby helping to collapse the power distance and resulting in mutual learning.
Our Programs
Our programmes are always adapted to meet an organisation’s needs and and are based on the following topics:
- Mentoring for volunteer mentors and professional mentors
- Coaching for line managers and HR professionals.
- Customisation usually includes incorporation of the client’s current processes and programmes, for example, leadership development, potential and competency assessment methodologies, diversity, talent management and performance management as it is critical fo success that all of these be aligned.
- All our programmes include material on working with diversity, and we can offer more in-depth sessions on this topic if required.
- Further material under development
- Other materials under development include a new approach to helping line managers practise their coaching skills through facilitation of team conversations as well as material aimed at helping HR professionals devise and implement an effective Work Life Balance strategy in the organisation.
